SONY XPERIA XZ AND X COMPACT FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Sony announced the duo Xperia X smartphone the Xperia XZ and the Xperia X compact at IFA 2016 Event here is My take on the first impressions.

Starting with Xperia XZ when it comes to design the device looks quite great with its loop surface & its striking Forest blue shade and the build quality seems to be great as well with alkaleideo material adding to the overall quality. The device sports a 5.2 inch Full HD IPS Display with some display tweaks to personalize as per your needs and the clarity is very good. No Quad HD yet from sony which helps in providing better the battery life though.

Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip running Quad-Core processor paired with Adreno 530 GPU completing the package with 3 GB ram and 32/64 GB storage with Micro SD support. The Performance with this configuration is on par with flagship grade and as expected the overall performance too seems to be great from the device.

Speaking about the camera device packs in 23 MP rear camera with improvements including laser autofocus (faster accuracy autofocus) system along with RGBC IR ( Red Green Blue Clear Infrared (IR) for better color accuracy) sensor which company claims will take great images in challenging lighting conditions and when it comes to video recording devices brings back 4K recording and along with predictive hybrid auto focusing system there is a new 5 axis stabilization (minimizes pitch, roll, yaw & camera shake reduction) which Sony touts as world's first which help in providing excellent video stabilization in challenging situations to get smooth and stable videos up front there is a 13MP camera with autofocus which is of recording full HD videos. The camera is a good step in the right direction and clarity seams to be overall great as well.

On the software front the device runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on top of Xperia UI which is close to stock Android and runs the device very smoothly providing very good experience there are few neat additions the software including Xperia tips which helps provide features and how to use the device to get the most out of it a new feature called performance manager which automatically turns down the unwanted apps in the background which help provide better Ram management and enhance the overall performance. Also Provided is the Fingerprint Scanner along with New USB Type-C first for sony.

When it comes to battery the device is powered by 2900 mah battery (Qualcomm quick charge 3.0 support) with Sony stamina mode for better battery life in addition to Qnovo's adaptive charging Technology which promises upto 2x better battery life span the new addition called battery care is a feature which helps in preventing overcharging of the battery when the device is kept on charge say overnight or for long duration based on adapting the usage of charging.

Lastly expected to be priced around 48,900 (735$ USD) with September/October Release*.

The Xperia X compact on the other hand comes with High gloss finish instead of alkaleideo too keep the cost down and follows same design philosophy as XZ & its striking new mist blue shade. This device also looks very good and so is the overall build quality. The device sports a 4.6 inch HD IPS Display with some display tweaks to personalize as per your needs and the clarity is very good.

Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chip running Hexa-Core processor paired with Adreno 510 GPU completing the package with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage with Micro SD support. The performance with this configuration is very good considering it has to power HD display and as expected the overall performance too seems to be great from the device.

Rest of the specifications is same to that of the Xperia XZ but misses on few which includes iP68 certification, 4K recording, 2700 mah battery and 5MP front camera. So similar performance & technology is expected here apart from those missing features.

Lastly expected to be priced around 37,900 (567$ USD) with September/October Release*.
