SONY XPERIA E1 REVIEW


Sony launched its budget android smartphone namely Xperia E1 in India which is priced @ 8,499/- (Single Sim) & 9,499/- (Dual Sim). It is available is Black, White & Purple shades.

DESIGN, BUILD QUALITY & DISPLAY
The design of this phone is great. It has scratch resistant glass on front & matte finish back and feels good in hands. It is slim at 12mm and weighs 120gms. It has 4 inch WVGA LCD display of resolution 480 x 854 with 233ppi. The viewing angles are pretty fine and sunlight legibility of the display is average. It runs on Xperia User Interface. The display supports 5 multi-touch points and the brightness of the screen is pretty good.

STORAGE, MULTIMEDIA & CONNECTIVITYS
It has 4GB of internal storage which is further expandable upto 32GB. The device features dedicated multimedia apps like Walkman for songs, an Album to store all images and videos and a Movies for playing movies respectively which are very good. FM radio comes pre-installed. Conductivities like 2G, 3G speeds upto 21.1mbps download & upto 5.76mbps upload, Wifi b/g/n, Wifi direct, Wifi hotsopt, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low Energy) but lacks USB OTG.

CAMERA & VIDEO RECORDING CAPABILITIES
It has a 3.2MP rear camera with autofocus and which features such as Geo-tagging, Touch focus, Image stabilization, HDR etc. The camera clarity is quite good overall. Daytime the images are quite good and has fine amount of details respectively but in the night is where the noise starts to become bit visible visible and to get better details at night HDR mode images with bit of steady hands helps to produce slightly better images still image quality at night is just average due to lack of led flash and could have been better. It does FWVGA 480p@30fps video recording with video stabilization and stereo sound having bit-rate of 9mbps and stores in mp4 format. The video recording clarity is very good overall. Daytime the video clarity is very good and has good amount of details respectively but at night video clarity is just average due to lack of led flash could have been bit better. It doesen't have a front facing camera.

SOFTWARE, HARDWARE, PERFORMANCE & BENCHMARKS
It runs Android (OS) 4.3 Jellybean out of the box upgradable to 4.4.2 kitkat. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 (MSM8210) processor running a dual core 1.2 GHZ (Cortex-A7) with 512MB RAM and Adreno 302 (400MHZ Single core) GPU. The performance is good which provides number of graphic intensive games and multitasking run just well enough and there is no major lag at all.

BATTERY LIFE PERFORMANCE
It has a Removable Li-Ion 1700 mah battery. The battery life is quite good which is given below.

TALKTIME : upto 14H (2G) & upto 13H (3G).
STANDBY : upto 1210H (2G) & upto 1190H (3G).

PROS
*Good build quality.
*Pretty good display & viewing angle.
*Good Performance.
*Quite good camera and video recording clarity overall.
*Quite good loudspeaker could have been better.
*Removable battery.

CONS
*Display could have had slightly higher resolution as sunlight legibility is average.
*No Led flash and camera could have had 5MP.
*No USB OTG.  
*512MB RAM Might be a limiting Factor.
*No Front Camera.
