SONY XPERIA Z2 REVIEW

Sony launched its flagship smartphone in India namely Xperia Z2 which is priced @ 44,990. It is available in Black, White and Purple shades.

DESIGN, BUILD QUALITY & DISPLAY 

The desigh is very good and feels premium. It has a scratch resistant and shatter proof durable tempered glass both on back and front and an alluminium frame structure. It is slim at 8.2mm and weighs 163gms. It is also IP58 certified meaning dust proof and water resistant for 5 feet and 30 minutes. It has a 5.2 inch 16M FULL HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen which features Triluminous display & X-Reality engine with 424ppi. It has Opti-contrast panel. The viewing angles and sunlight legibility are pretty good. It runs on Xperia UI.

STORAGE, MULTIMEDIA & CONNECTIVITYS 

It has a 16 GB internal storage and is expandable upto 64 GB. The device features dedicated multimedia apps which are very good. It has clear audio technologies and X-loud sound enhancements. On-board connectivitie's such as 2G, 3G, 4G (LTE), WIFI, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS & GLONASS, NFC and USB & USB OTG support are standard. It also includes Sony’s unique one touch functions that takes place with help of NFC. But lacks IR(Infrared) Port.

CAMERA AND VIDEO RECORDING CAPABILITIES 

It has a 20.7 MP Rear camera (1/2.3 inch sensor size) with autofocus & LED flash with Sony's G LENS & BIONZ image processor which features Superior auto mode(optimises right settings at right time),Simultaneous HD video and image recording, Time-Shift burst mode (snaps 61 images in 2 seconds and starts before u hit the shutter key), Geo-tagging, AR (Argument Reality) effects, Image stabilization, Sweep panorama, HDR etc. The camera clarity is Excellent. It does 4K Ultra HD 2160p@30fps, FULL HD 1080p@60fps as well as 30fps & 720p@120fps with HDR for full hd video recording with video stabilizatio and stereo sound having bitrate of 49 Mbps for 4K, 29 Mbps for full hd in 60fps & 18Mbps in 30fps & stores in MP4 files. The video recording clarity is Excellent. It has a 2.2 MP Front camera which does FULL HD 1080p@30fps and clarity is pretty good.

SOFTWARE, HARDWARE,PERFORMANCE & BENCHMARKS

It runs on Android(OS) 4.4.2 Kitkat out of the box upgradable to 4.4.4 kitkat with a planned upgrade to 5.0 Lollipop. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AB) processor running a quad core at 2.3 GHZ with 3 GB RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU. The performance is Top class which provides high graphic intensive games and multitasking run smoothly and there is no lag at all. It is also PlayStation certified.
