NOKIA LUMIA 1020 REVIEW


Nokia launched its flagship windows smartphone namely Lumia 1020 in India which is priced @ 33,999/-. It is available is Black, White & Yellow.

DESIGN, BUILD QUALITY & DISPLAY
The design of this phone is good. It has corning glass 3 on front and a polycarbonate unibody on the back and feels great in hands. It is slim at 10.4mm and weighs 158gms. It has 4.5 inch WXGA AMOLED display of resolution 768 x 1280 with 332 ppi. The viewing angles is great and sunlight legibility of the display is good enough could have been better. It runs on windows tile based User Interface. The brightness of the screen is great. The display also features pure motion HD+ and Nokia's clear black technology. 

STORAGE, MULTIMEDIA & CONNECTIVITYS
It has 32GB of internal storage which is not further expandable. The device features dedicated multimedia apps like music for songs and gallery for images and a video player for videos which are good. FM radio comes pre-installed. Conductivities like 2G, 3G speeds upto 42.2mbps download & upto 5.76mbps upload, 4G speeds up to 100mbps download & upto 50mbps upload, Wifi a/b/g/n, Wifi dual-band, Wifi direct, Wifi hotsopt, USB OTG as well as Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low Energy) and NFC .

CAMERA & VIDEO RECORDING CAPABILITIES
It has a 41MP (38MP Effective) which is a 1/1.5 inch sensor  carl zeiss optics and features OIS (Optical Image Stabalization ) rear camera with autofocus and Led flash as well as xenon flash which features Simultaneous image and video recording, Geo-tagging, Touch focus, Image stabilization, HDR etc. There are many good modes avaliable which makes it good. The camera clarity is Excellent overall. Daytime the images are great and has fine details respectively but in the night is where the noise starts to become more visible and to get better details at night HDR mode images with bit of steady hands helps to produce slightly better images still image quality at night is pretty good. It does FULL HD 1080p@30fps video recording with video stabilization and stereo sound but lacks HDR having bit-rate of 16-17 mbps and stores in mp4 format. The video recording clarity is great overall. Daytime the video clarity is great and has fine details respectively but at night video clarity is pretty good too. The camera also provides lossless digital zoom of upto 4x without the loss of much details which is very good. It also has a 1.2MP front camera for selfe's with 720p video recording and clarity is pretty fine.

SOFTWARE, HARDWARE & PERFORMANCE
It runs Microsoft Windows Phone 8 (OS) out of the box upgradable to Windows phone 8.1. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (MSM8960) processor running a dual core 1.5 GHZ (Cortex-A15) with 2 GB RAM and Adreno 225 (400MHZ single core)GPU. The performance is Excellent which provides number of graphic intensive games and multitasking run very well and there is no lag at all.

BATTERY LIFE PERFORMANCE
It has a non removable Li-Ion 2000 mah battery. The battery life is good which is given below.

VIDEO WATCHING: upto 11H.
TALKTIME : upto 20H(2G) / upto 18H(3G).
STANDBY TIME: upto 410 H(2G) / upto 400 H(3G).

*Excellent camera and video recording clarity with OIS.
*Good loudspeaker.
*Good battery life.

CONS
*App catalogue is still pretty less in comparison to android though 8.1 update has taken it in the right direction.
*Non-Removable Battery and it's capacity is less in comparison to today's standards.
*No memory card slot storage is what you get.
*Camera hump at the back might not be that comfortable when phone is in pockets.
*Pricy at launch.
