Samsung launched low-end budget android smartphone namely Galaxy Y plus in India which is priced @ 6,290/-(single sim) & 6,590/-(dual sim). It is available is Black and White shades.
DESIGN, BUILD QUALITY & DISPLAY
The design is basic but ok. It has a scratch resistant glass on front and a plastic matte finish on the back making it quite durable. It is slim at 13mm and weighs 96gms. It has a 2.8 inch 262K LCD capacitive touchscreen of 240X320 (QVGA) resolution with 143ppi. The viewing angles and sunlight legibility is descent.
STORAGE, MULTIMEDIA & CONNECTIVITIES
The device comes with a 4GB internal storage and is further expandable upto 32GB. The device features dedicated multimedia apps which are good. On-board connectvities such as 2G, 3G, WIFI, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB are standard.
CAMERA AND VIDEO RECORDING CAPABILITIES
It has a 2 MP Rear camera with fixed focus which features Geo-tagging etc. The camera clarity is average. It does QVGA@15fps video recording and stores in MP4 format. The video recording clarity is average. It doesn't have a Front camera.
SOFTWARE, HARDWARE, PERFORMANCE & BENCHMARKS
It runs on Android (OS) 4.0.4 Ice cream sandwich out of the box . It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 (MSM7225A) processor running a single core at 850 MHZ with 512 MB RAM and an Adreno 200 GPU. The performance is ok which provides less number of graphic intensive games and multitasking run well enough and there is a bit of lag occasionally.
